Inaugural gala gifts reseed the Presidential Scholars initiative
May 23, 2012
During a celebratory gala held last month in recognition of the president’s inauguration, the success in reseeding the reinvigorated Presidential Scholars program was an unexpected surprise.
About $400,000 was raised for the program before and during the event, which was held at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Library on April 20.
Presidential Scholars is a planned scholarship and mentoring initiative intended to attract the very best high school students to San José State. It will offer students competitive scholarships and a rigorous program with opportunities for leadership, academics and mentorship.
The program is a successor to a previous Presidential Scholars program.
